Our mission is to help women live their best life by creating ethically made clothing that empowers and delights. We take our business, but not ourselves, seriously. We love clothing that is fun, whimsical and can create sunshine on even the cloudiest of days. We love to use tactile, bright and colorful materials, crafted into playful and subtly sexy silhouettes.
We believe that fashion should help make the world a more beautiful place and it's our responsibility to use the most eco-friendly materials to help minimize our carbon footprint. All of our products are made to order, or in small batches, to minimize the waste of overstock of goods.
The House of Perna is a female-founded and operated family-owned business and we believe all members of our team should be treated like they're family too. Our clothing is all made in the United States and our bags are made in collaboration with artisans in Morocco. We believe in paying fair wages while keeping our prices as low as possible.
AMANDA PERNA is a mom, wife & fashion expert who believes that we are stronger together and life is too short not to follow your dreams!
While studying Apparel Design at The University of Alabama, Amanda started following her dream by accepting a design internship at Oscar de la Renta in New York City. The following summer she returned to New York to intern at Calvin Klein, which led to her first job (and graduating a semester ahead of schedule), designing dresses for Calvin Klein.
Always interested in learning and growing, Amanda furthered her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology while working full time as a fashion designer.
Although she had her dream job, Amanda wanted more; to start her own business where she could create bold, whimsical clothing, handcrafted in the United States. In 2012, against the advice of everyone she knew, she took a leap of faith and quit her job to launch The House of Perna.
Above all else, Amanda believes it is our duty to help each other. She has mentored over 50 young women (and 2 young men) who have a passion for the fashion industry.
And for those who are wondering, yes, she has been on Project Runway (twice).
